Ken Martz, Managing Partner, is responsible for the long-range planning and business aspects of the firm.
Ken began his public accounting career in 1978 working with a large, local Certified Public Accounting firm. He has an extensive background in the areas of personal and corporate tax planning, financial reporting, and consulting on complex business tax issues for a broad array of clients. His areas of concentration include: automobile dealerships, contractors, manufacturing, and service businesses. He navigates clients throughout their business life cycle: from startup, obtaining financing and capital accumulation; to mature businesses, managing growth with increasing profits, enhancing value; and into retirement with succession planning and developing an exit strategy.
Ken graduated cum laude from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas in 1978 where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in accounting. Ken was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. He received his CPA certificate in 1979 and is licensed to practice in the state of Missouri. Ken exceeds the annual requirements of the Continuing Professional Education program of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ken is community minded with a ‘caretaker’ approach. He currently serves as the Treasurer to the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. His past civic duties include: Board member and Treasurer of St. Louis City CASA, an organization that promotes quality volunteer representation for children of abuse and neglect so they may have safe, permanent, nurturing homes, Officer of the Webster Groves Knights of Columbus and Treasurer of the Council’s Home association, President of the Holy Redeemer School Board, and member of the parish’s Administration and Finance committee.
Ken is married to Teresa, his wife of thirty years. They have four children; Matthew (married: Katie, grandson Jack) attained a Masters in Creative Writing from Columbia University and he works for a book publisher in New York City. Meghan is a graduate of McKendree College and works for an advertising agency in St. Louis. Maureen, a CPA, is a graduate of Butler University and works for an accounting firm in Indianapolis. Michelle attends the University of Mary Washington. Ken’s interest include sports. He especially enjoys coaching girl’s AAU basketball.
Mark Wilson began his public accounting and consulting career in 1977 with a large, local Certified Public Accounting firm. He has developed an extensive background working closely with the automobile dealership, printing, retail and wholesale distribution industries as well as several other industries.
In 1987, he became the CFO of one of his larger clients. For over thirteen years, he worked with a management team that expanded a local distribution and repair company into a business operating in six states from nine locations and tripled their sales volume. Mark was also responsible for overseeing IT operations, personnel administration, insurance, and other business management functions. After spearheading the financial project of merging the Company with eight other similar businesses and assisting in its successful IPO, Mark became the controller for the St. Louis region. Rather than accepting a management position in Houston, Mark decided to remain in St. Louis and return to public accounting.
In 1999, Mark Wilson joined a local CPA firm as their Director of Automotive Services. Mark earned his designation as a Certified Valuation Analyst and has been heavily involved in business valuations and litigation support. He has headed fraud investigations and has testified as an expert witness in numerous court cases.
In August 2002, Mark became a founding partner of Martz & Wilson, LLP, where he continues to be heavily involved in valuations, litigation support and other business and tax consulting projects.
Mark graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri – St. Louis in 1976 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting. Mark was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. He received his CPA certificate in 1977 and is licensed to practice in the state of Missouri. He received his CVA certificate in 2001.
He is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He also serves as a Director of the Missouri Paralegal Association.
Mark has been heavily involved in the St. Louis Chapter of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, serving as the past Chairman of the Industry Committee and the Continuing Professional Education Committee and as an ex-offico member of the Board of Directors. He has also served on the Auditing & Accounting Committee and to the Statistical Sampling Committee for Associated Accounting Firms International, and as the past president of the St. Louis Realty Users Group. Mark wrote the newsletter, Profit Driven, for the metropolitan automobile dealers.
